Davids thoughts and reasons for building:

May 2005
My reasons for building this boat are simple.

I love fishing. I have been fishing before I was able to walk. The thought of building my own boat, the way I want it makes me feel like I can do anything. I have a hard time at school some time, but making my own boat teaches me about math in ways that I wouldn’t have thought of, which surprises me.

I like the outdoors, so if I’m not playing baseball or football, then you could probably catch me on the river. Even if I don’t catch anything, its still a good day. When this boat is done, it’ll have extra meaning to me because it was made by my family.

The following picture was added by Davids dad. Dave caught the big one a few years ago. It was too big for him to hold up at the time so his solution was to get at fishes level to take the picture. He wanted to give up the pole when he got tired, but we kept encouraging him to fight it out and he would feel like he accomplished a big task. He won! We are proud of him and the fish was excellent.
