Davids Tolman Skiff Project
John Klistoff (Dad)
Johns thoughts and reasons for building:
May 2005
There were several reasons for building another boat. I had built a 16 foot flat bottom fiberglassed plywood on framing boat some 17 years ago. You may have seen us fishing for Spring Chinook on the Willamette or Fall Chinook on the Columbia.
The first reason was family. I recognized that we had three generations who liked to fish together. Who better to take on a project of this size than the three amigos. We could talk about the boat and the adventures we would take on it when we went fishing and were together.
I believe also that this project will help build and develope skills and character in David. David has learned shop safety, how to use various tools, how to apply math, deduction, and reasoning in the project to date. Many more opportunities await us to learn additional things. Consider the possibilities.
Lately, We have been talking about doing an adventure and taking this boat up the inside passage to Alaska (north to Alaska by boat). What an awesome adventure. Fishing and seeing some of the most beautiful areas on earth.
To date it has been a very enjoyble experience. I feel I have grown even closer to my son and my Father-inlaw. I thank God that we have this opportunity.
